The last farmers
They keep repeating that there are few left, that there’s no one around anymore, and that life used to be different.
Married to the land, to the animals, to the trees and plants. They still move gracefully, despite all the years bent down touching their own shadows.
They are mistrustful, yet in the end, they share the stories of their lives as if you were a beloved brother.
They are old and bearers of our roots. However, their future is exhausted in the anticipation of the next dawn.
We could envision them as figures from a distant past, superhuman, heroic, and at the same time familiar.
They are the last farmers, and they are our memory.
The work began in the winter of 2010. Suspended for many years, it resumed in January 2019 and will continue until the spring of 2024.
